Eating the Right Foods

For any healthy lifestyle change, eating the right food is essential. It is important to understand why you eat certain foods and why it is better to eat some foods when it comes to performing tasks throughout your daily routine.

Eating the right food can help you to maintain high levels of endurance and prevent developing illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes. Carbohydrates, fats, fibre, sugars, salt and protein must be consumed in moderation but in sufficient quantities to help produce the effects you want.

Eating the right food in appropriate amounts can be the key to a healthy diet, lifestyle and make you look and feel much better for longer.

Nutrients & Vitamins

When you're not eating the right foods, you're not preparing your immune system for the struggles it may face during the day. All fresh and some prepared fruit and vegetables have what are essential vitamins and nutrients.

If you eat too many processed foods or those with limited nutrients or vitamins, you are susceptible to vitamin and mineral deficiency diseases. Without consuming various food products, the chances are you'll fail to meet your body's requirements for energy. The body requires energy sources to operate properly, especially during high intensity exercise.

Carbohydrates

The presence of Carbs helps to regulate fat and protein metabolism. Fuelling the nervous system, the brain and your muscles, Carbs provide you with the essential ingredients your body needs to perform adequately throughout the day.

From simple sugars called monosaccharide (glucose) to disaccharides (sucrose) and polysaccharides (starch), carbs should comprise of up to 65% of your daily calories and 1grasm of carbohydrate contains 4kcal.

Over consumption of refined carbs however can often result in a diet that may induce vitamin and mineral deficiency diseases such as anaemia. It can also lead to obesity and tooth decay. Ketosis is a total lack of carbs which can lead to depression and weight loss.

Protein

Too much protein in your diet can result in rare disorders such as liver disease and kidney problems. Some types of kidney stones are related to an excess of meat and the removal of calcium which can lead to osteoporosis. Most of us eat more protein than we actually need.

Fibre

Fibre is important to help with regular movements and fats and proteins can actually help you to lose weight as the calories get burned through processes within the body so it is potentially the case that what you eat determines how you act, look and feel.
